Biography: -"Raiden," is actually a codename. Raiden's real name is Jack. As a child, Jack's parents were murdered by Solidus Jack, an antagonist of the Metal Gear Series (MGS), who took Jack overseas in order to raise Jack as a child soldier. Under Solidus, Jack fought in the Liberian Civil War of 1989, where due to his high killing ratio, was nicknamed "White Devil," and "Jack The Ripper." This was all at the age of six years old. At age 10, Jack became Captain of the Small Boy Unit. -After the war ended, Solidus brought Jack back to the United States where he was put in a relief center. Jack was soon taken custody of by The Patriots. The Patriots' intent was to use Jack as a back up A.I. unit by implanting nano-machines into his cerebral cortex. These nano-machines would prove to be useful as they aided in Jack's suppression of memories of his bloody past. -Jack was released into the "real" world, and at adulthood, would be recognized by the U.S. Army's Task Force XXI who trained Jack via over three hundred simulation war scenarios. Due to Jack's intensive training, he was assigned to "Big Shell," which was a mission to infiltrate The Patriots base. -"Big Shell," turned out to be a lie created by The Patriots themselves in order for Jack and Solidus to meet each other and kill themselves in order to eliminate both threats to the organization. Jack would become victorious in his fight against Solidus, and in doing so, made an ally, Snake, who is the main protagonist to the MGS. -Shortly after Jack's return from "Big Shell," Jack pursues another mission in order to retrieve the remains of Big Boss, a previous leader figure of The Patriots, in order to retrieve vital intel from his remains. Unfortunately, the mission was a failure, and Jack's reconnoissance turned out to be another rouse created by The Patriots. Jack was eventually captured. -After Jack's capture, The Patriots conducted multiple experiments on him involving exoskeleton technology. Their goal was to create the deadliest soldier for their own disposal. After removing Jack's spine, and his head from the jaw up and grafting it to their exoskeleton, Jack was formally renamed Raiden. Cool fact: "Raiden," in Japanese means thunder and lighting, which is appropriate given Jack's powerful and violent abilities. |
